Banned or Challenged Books
Today while at library I noticed a bulletin board with posted with book that are have been banned at one time or another. While there this got me thinking about what caused these books to be banned. One of the titles really caught my attention the title of this book was to Kill a Mocking Bird. While I was thinking about this I noticed that the reason that it had been banned was because of the way it portrayed our society when as a whole we discriminated against African-American’s. Once thinking of the reason that this book was banned I thought of how they were trying to shield the American people of what many people used to be like. After think about how now we think of To Kill a Mockingbird as a great book I wondered how our future society would think of the books that have been banned in our library’s this generation. Many people have already thought of these book banned as silly, but I still decided to get a list of these books that were once banned or challenged that are now considered to be wonder books.
Harry Potter
To Kill a Mockingbird
Grim Fairytale’s
Gone with the Wind (has been banned since its original publishing in California)
The Bible (banned in some public schools)
And many more
