Reading Letter 6- quarter 2- Anna T

School Story
Andrew Clements

I just started the book, School Story by Andrew Clements. This book is about, Natalie, a talented 12 year old writer and her BFF, Zoe. Natalie’s dad died when she was in second grade. Her dad always read her books. He gave her, her love for reading, which turned into her love for writing. Her mom, is an editor at a publishing company. Her mom told her the kind of books they publish. She said they mostly publish school stories, (books about life at school.) Natalie realized she knew everything about being in school so why not write a story about it. Except, her story turned out really good. Good enough to publish. Natalie and Zoe both knew they couldn’t publish it with her real name. Her mom wouldn’t be able to. So they came up with a brilliant plan, Natalie is going to use a pen name so her book can be published, hopefully.
I think this book is pretty unrealistic. But it is also just fun to read. It makes me feel like a little kid again. I used to think I was going to grow up and be a famous singer/author. But I also think this book is also realistic in a way. Some young kids have the ability to look at life in a completely different way. A way that is really refreshing to adults. Kids can have a certain intelligence that enables them to see what is really important in life. And that can be why people may enjoy reading books written by children.

  1. You did very good in this except I would separate the reflection from the plot and check the punctuation but very good job.
