4th Quarter Reading Letter 2- Seth

Vanishing Act

Ch. 1-10

I read the book Vanishing Act by John Feinstein.  The book is about two kid reporters, Susan Carol and Stevie who go to and cover the U.S. Open.  They both stay with Susan Carol’s uncle Brennan who lives in downtown Manhattan, New York City.  In the middle of the tournament, star player, Nadia Symnova of Russia is kidnapped, or so everyone thinks. Stevie and Susan Carol think she faked a kidnapping for publicity.

Stevie and Susan Carol decide to investigate.  They’ve already busted a college dean earlier in the year who was trying to blackmail Minnesota State’s star point guard Chip Graber and make him throw the game.  Anyway, Stevie and Susan Carol decide to go to the  players lounge first to see if they can overhear anything  important.  They don’t so they go to the SMG suite.  They do run on to something important there.  They overhear Hughes Norwood and Symnova parents talking to Elena Makrova of Russia’s parents and a famous movie producer.  What are they talking about?  What will Stevie and Susan Carol find out?  Read the book and find out for yourself.

I chose to read this book because I love Feinstein’s books and I like to read mysteries.  Vanishing Act is the second book in this series.  These books are all about major sporting events and mysteries at them and that’s why these books are so enjoyable for me.
