Dear class,

Call me Francis Tuckett

Gary Paulsen

Pages 1 through 25

Summary:

Francis is looking for food and he sees a herd of bison. Francis galloped over there on his mayor and shoots a cow bison. Then he gets caught in the stampede and when the stampede stops here share some bull and a stampede again but he’s away from them. He cuts some meat out of the bull and cooks it over a fire. He wakes up in the morning and two men are taking all of his stuff and his horse from him.

Response:

I love this part of the book because it leaves us at a cliffhanger where Francis has nothing and all of his stuff it is with two men going west. The cover makes me want to read the book because it shows Francis and I heard of stampeding bison. The title doesn’t really make me want to read the book. The book has chapters, but they’re not named they just have numbers. The author builds tension by making two men take all of Francis’ stuff.   They his horse left him with an old mule and a bison carcass.
