Dear Miss Gibson,

Three Dark Crowns

Kendra Blake

Three dark crowns is about three sisters who were separated as children, and then trained to kill each other at the age of sixteen. They are raised on different parts of an island as queens of certain powerful families. The first sister Katherine is trained to lethally poison others and to withstand being poisoned.  The second sister Mirabella is taught to control weather. The third sister Arsinoe is supposed to be able to control nature and animals but have never really been able to. All goes according to plan until the triplets decide to go off script and try to be their own people wile Mirabella and Arsinoe both separately try to run away, while Katherine potentially endangers herself by taking on more poisoner training than she can handle.

I really like this book because it is very entertaining, as well as dark and violent. The book was really interesting to read because the book is told in one point of view but still split up into almost scenes of sorts. It was also great to read how each of the triplets were raised and treated growing up. For instance, Mirabella is given almost anything she wants in live yet she still decides she can’t kill the sisters she never really knew, While Katherine is abused and treated terribly by almost all of her family and all she wants is to be able to please them and prove that she is worthy of their affection. I also enjoy hearing all the different opinions on the same topic, because not only is the book talk about dark and violent themes, but also covers political opinions. Three Dark Crowns is one of the best fantasy novels I have read recently and I am excited to finish the rest of the series.
