Reading Letter #3- Sean

A Summer of Kings

Han Nolan

20/334 pages

I am reading the book A Summer of Kings by Han Nolan. I have read 20 of 334 pages in this book. So far it is not very exciting but I’m sure it will get better. Esther is telling the story from her point of view. Esther has told how she is always left out from her family when they go on vacation she is always forced to take tutoring for school while her family goes out and adventures does plays and commercials and all sorts of things. Recently an 18 year old African boy  named King-Roy Johnson has moved in with her family. He was accused of murdering a white man in Alabama. He ran away to New York to Esther’s home her mother and King-Roy’s were good friends. Esther’s family didn’t exactly like having him there for the most part.

Esther’s Auntie Pie has saved some hawks so Esther, Auntie pie and Pip go out and pick up squirrels that have been an over by cars to feed the hawks. I believe that this will turn into a very exciting book,  I will read on to find out more and to see where everything goes.

  1. Sean,
Your wrote a very good summary of this book, but you did not give your thoughts. What makes you think it will become more exciting? Write more details about your thoughts.
