2nd Quarter reading Letter #6- Sean

Book: Midsummer Nights Dream

Author: William Shakespeare

Pages: All

The book A Midsummer Nights Dream was written by the very famous author and poet William Shakespeare. Shakespeare based the book in the early 1800’s in Athens. Most of the story is either in the woods or at the palace. The main characters are Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, Helena, Egeus, Theseus, Hippolyta, Oberon, Titania, Puck (Oberon’s servant) and The Fools (Nick Bottom, Peter Quince, Francis Flute, Robin Starvling, Tom Snout and Snug.

The story is about young love between Lysander and Hermia, but Hermia’s father Theseus wants he rto marry Demetrius simply, because he likes him better than Lysander. Demetrius had left Helena for Hermia leaving Helena heart broken and looking for love, but halfway through the story Puck sets a spell on Lysander and Demetrius so that they both love Helena and don’t love Hermia. Puck also sets a spell on Titania and she ends up falling in love with Nick Bottom who has been transformed into a donkey. Once Lysander and Demetrius fall in love with Helena she begins to think that they are playing a huge joke on her, but they really aren’t they are just under a spell.

By the end of the story everything works itself out. Titania and Oberon fall in love again and take their places as King and Queen of the fairies. Helena and Demetrius falling in love like they used to be and Hermia and Lysander fall in love again so everything is straightened out. Even though it doesn’t talk about Hippolyta and Theseus very much in the book they end up falling in love at the end of the movie for a little suprise twist in the story. Hippolyta and Theseus, Helena and Demetrius, and Hermia and Lysander all end up getting married in the end in a huge ceremony. Lysander finally receives Theseus’ approval to marry his daughter and everything ends happily ever after.

I would recomend this book, because it was written by a very good and famous author. It also tells the story of true love and is overall a good read.

I thought that your reading letter was good and it was explained very well, also I only found a couple minor mistakes. Overall well done.

  2. This was very good, but I would do more than a recommendation for the reflection. But besides that good job.
