Finished

I finished reading the book, Dear John, by Nicholas Sparks. Where I left off, John’s dad jsut had a heart attack. John was grante an emergency leave to visit him. After that, things continually got worse with Savannah. When he was just months away from being done with army completely, 9/11/01 happened. He felt obligated to re-enlist, as did the rest of his unit, so he did. He signed up for another 2 years in the army. Shortly, he was sent to Afghanistan. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced. While he was there, he recieved a long letter from Savannah saying she had found someone else. She apologized and apologized, knowing this would break his heart. When John was allowed to leave, he drove to Lenoir, the where Savannah lived. He drove to her house and sat in his car outside of her driveway, until she saw him. She told his to come inside and how happy she was to see him. John told her he wanted to meet her husband she told him he already had. It was Tim, her bestfriend. John had met him the summer when everything got started between him and Savannah. John kept asking were Tim was but Savannah never answered. The next morning, Savannah took John to go see him, at the hospital. Tim had cancer and it was killing him little by little. He was a perfect canidate for a new treatmentto hopefully cure his cancer, but it was too expensive and insurance wouldn’t cover it. John stayed and talked with their family until he decided he should leave. When he left, he decided to sell his father’s coin collection. It was worth a lot of money and he gave all that money anonymously to Tim, so he could get the treatment he needed. That treatment saved Tim’s life and he went into remission. Although he still loved Savannah and wanted to be with her, he knew he made the right decision.
