The Ballad of the Bank by Gabe and Mark

The Ballad of the Bank.

Alarms blared at a bank in Spencer Illinois.

Police came and tried to stop the ploy.

Unbeknownst to them, they were in the wrong place.

There was a lone man there; the police had lost the race.

In another place, 5 robbers broke a bank.

Like money falling into bags, the hostages’ hopes then sank.

For help was not arriving fast,

Their helpless cries could be their last.

The robbers quickly ran away.

To get away they could not stay.

Police arrived but were too late.

They then were in a troubled state.

The robbers were glad; no police were near.

Yet something was wrong, the robbers were in tears.

In the bags, something was not right.

For the feather-filled bags had created a plight.

Don’t ever rob banks, I will tell you why:

If you ever get caught, your life will pass you by.

This is true for the robbers; I do not lie.

For all they do now, is sit down and sigh.

  1. Gabe and Mark,
I really enjoyed your poem because I liked how you incorporated humor. I loved “In the bags, something was not right.
For the feather-filled bags had created a plight.”
    Great detail!! Good Job!
