Hello Mrs. Gibson

Ender’s Game

Orson Scott card

Pages 16-26

SUMMARY

Colonel Graff comes to enders home looking for him. He asks him to attend battle school, but his parents refuse. Graff explains that it is up to Ender, who decides to go.

Response

This part of the book was very serious and revealing. When Graff comes to Ender’s house, he talks to his father, suggesting that he does not approve of Ender beating up a student. This however turns even more serious when he tells Ender that he passed and can go to battle school. This comes as a surprise to his parents who don’t approve of him going. Graff talks to Ender and explains that no one wants a third. This means that his parents love him, but don’t want him anymore. This move helped to understand Ender’s role in life and in his family. He was born for experimental purposes and nothing else.

Sincerely ,

Jacob Nave

  1. Hey Jacob,
But do we really believe Graff is telling the truth???? Or is he just saying what he knows will manipulate Ender into doing what Graff wants him to do?
