Wings of Fire: Talons of Power
Tui T. Sutherland
Book page: 115-175
Summary:
Turtle heads to the rain forest to keep track of Darkstalker. Once there, Darkstalker wins over the night wings and prepares to head out to the old night wing kingdom. Meanwhile, Turtle askes Anemone to heal Kinkajou so that she can help Turtle stop Darkstalker.
Response:
Turtle has a very strange way of interpreting the world. He constantly thinks of things as if they were happening in a story. He constantly thinks about what role he wishes to play, usually it is not a main character but a side character like a sidekick or messenger. He thinks very lowly of himself and tries to never do anything that will make him stand out. All he wants is to be the side character in another dragon’s story which he says many times. Even though he wants to be a side character he ends up being the only one that can save the world from Darkstalker so he tries to work with other people along with saving Kinkajou. The point of this was to tell them what was happening and then help them to beat Darkstalker instead of doing it on his own because he thinks he is going to fail.
Hey Joaquin,
I think that makes the story more interesting when you have a character who really doesn’t want to face the role that’s thrust upon them. Think about how may superhero stories have the hero who really is unlikely, or unwilling to take on the role!!!
