Student Writing #3-2nd Quarter-Brianna-DRAFT

Snow

It is the night before Christmas and all is quiet.

Nothing is moving, not even the cat.

Sweet dreams are spread throughout the house.

Dreams of candy canes and cookies,

penguins and polar bears,

Santa and sleighs,

reindeer and lots of great gifts.

But the one thing in everyone’s dream is snow.

There has been no snow for years and there probably won’t be any this year either,

but this year seemed special.

The whole family was there and the house was decorated from top to bottom.

Even the outside was decorated with lights along the roof and a light-up deer and a tree.

The tree in the basement was so homey.

The many ornaments that fill the tree, each one with its own story.

Morning was soon to come.

With smiles and laughter,

Santa’s gifts, and all the others,

breakfast and stories.

And maybe even snow.

As morning came, the sky was dark.

That eerie dark before a storm. A

ll huddled around the tree with cocoa and a fire going in the fireplace.

Opening gifts one by one.

Then one by one snowflakes began to fall.

We all rushed to the door, to see a thin layer of snow on the ground.

Ditching the gifts and running to put on coats, scarves, hats, gloves, and boots, we rush outside to enjoy the snow.

After catching snowflakes and a few chills, we decide to retreat back inside.

Back to the tree, fire, and hot chocolate.

We finish opening gifts and exchanging thanks.

Then it’s upstairs to get on some real snow gear.

The weather station said it wasn’t going to stop till tonight.

There was probably two feet on the ground by now.

We rush outside and play till dark.

Coming in to the warm house with a smile on our faces.

What a great Christmas!!
