3rd Quarter Reading Letter #1- Steven

pages read: 222/222

Author: Andrew Clements

I read the book Lunch Money by Andrew Clements. It is about sixth grader Greg Keaton, a money hungry kid that’s always trying to make a buck. It is also about his neighbor and arch enemy, Maura Shaw. She has been copying Greg’s ideas since second grade. One day, Greg sees how much money kids carry around in their pockets. Then he gets a great idea… He decides to create comic books and sell them for 25 cents each. But the Maura does the same thing.

This book is yet another great kid’s book from Andrew Clements. His work is so detailed, I love his books. Just like in The Last Holiday Concert, he puts the book into sixth graders perspective. Clements is a great author. The book also had a happy ending, on the very last page, when Greg actually feels good about giving away money. After all the hard work he did to get it, he felt good to give it away. I liked this books ending. I also liked that Clements incorporated a teacher as one of the main characters. That gave the book some structure. Overall I would give this book four stars out of five. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes comedy incorporating kids. This is a great book.
