Warriors Don’t Cry

Reading Response

To Number 3-When the whites protested about integration of African Americans in Central High School, I was ashamed of our country and leaders for not standing up for their fellow citizens. The Constitution says that all Americans get rights, yet, they did not give these to some simply because of the color of their skin. It is unjustifiable and unacceptable for anyone to treat others differently because of how they look or believe that they could deny them of their education.

I think you make an excellent point! I also felt ashamed because who gives anyone the right to tell someone else that they aren’t worthy of equality and the basic human rights simply because their skin is a different color. I believe that this documentary and the excerpt from the memoir are great tools to remind us of the hatred that people are capable of– but they are also reminders of the strength of the human spirit and will.
