Reading letter 4

Hello Ms.Gibson

Congo

Michael Chrighton

After convincing Munro, an ex-mercenary, to work for them the ERTS team continues towards the Congo jungle. The Japanese and Germans however, were also competing to win over Munro, souring relations even further between the three. To get back at ERTS, the Japanese tap into ERTS’ communication lines and manage to steal valuable information as to where the rare mineral deposits are. This major setback means that the Japanese will most likely beat them to the jungle.

I like this part of the book because it heightens the tension between the three competitors. It reminds the reader that the mission is being affected by not lonely internal problems, but external ones too. This section of the book brings bad news  to the team and it will be interesting to see what happens next. The author does a great job of giving information to the reader in a way where you don’t realize something has gone wrong until it is too late. That way you feel a sense of helplessness just like the characters. Overall, the author does a great job of making the story feel realistic by setting up a good plot and making sure the reader connects with the characters.

  1. Hey Enzo,
So how do you think this is all going to turn out? Any hints or clues in the first part?
